A holiday classic returns to the Gaslight Stage. Follow the story of the fateful Christmas season for Ralph and his family.

Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!" All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more. A Christmas Story is destined to become a theatrical holiday perennial.

Gaslight Theatre is proud to partner with the Denny Price Family YMCA to provide babysitting services for patrons attending the Saturday December 16, 2023 performance of A Christmas Story. This service is free with your ticket purchase but we do need a headcount. Please click the registration link below to reserve a spot for your child(ren).

Important additional information:

For children ages 0 - 13
Babysitting services will take place at the Denny Price Family YMCA (415 W Cherokee, Enid OK).
The performance of A Christmas Story will take place at Gaslight Theatre (221 N. Independence, Enid OK).
You will be asked to fill out an information sheet for each child when dropping them off so please plan accordingly.
Children may be dropped off beginning at 5:30 pm.
The performance of A Christmas Story begins at 7:30 pm.
All children must be picked up no later than 10:15 pm.
A snack will be provided.
The Y's childcare specialists will be there to help the kids have fun with age-appropriate activities.
